100 years ago, when we conjured up the 21st century, we readily envisioned cities teeming with flying cars. The concept seems to have returned to favour recently... A few days ago, we learnt that a half-plane, half-car vehicle, had been cleared to drive on roads in the United States.
The company Scaled Composites, has unveiled a similar prototype, with better performance as well as being more eco-friendly and aesthetically pleasing. The "BiPod 367" is the fruit of the creative imagination of Burt Rutan, the recently retired former director of this Californian company.
The "BiPod 367" has the distinction of having two cockpits, one designed for travelling by road, the other containing the controls for flying. In addition, it has a hybrid engine, propelled partly by electric motors. A futuristic concept, as improbable as it is fascinating!Provided by YC/ATC-TCL.com
