Robots infiltrate the museum

The Smithsonian Institution, the venerable complex located in Washington and made up of almost 20 museums, is being endowed with the most high-tech of assets. Its collection devoted to American History will be enhanced with more than 100 robots, including some of the most famous from the last few decades.

From 9th April, visitors will have the opportunity to admire MARV (Mini Autonomous Robot Vehicle), an autonomous device barely bigger than a penny. Also on show: Robbie, a humanoid developed by DARPA (The American Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency), will put on its own show performing feats of memory for the public.

Robots that have peopled the world of fiction have not been forgotten by the Smithsonian. R2-D2, the famous robot from "Star Wars", also makes its entrance into the Museum of American History.
